A film made in 1996 on the effects of pollution on the Taj Mahal and the various measures taken to preserve the monument. The Taj Mahal, located at Agra in India is a living example of a synthesis of the intricate forms of Indian and Persian arts and architecture developing in India. It was built during the 17th century over a period of 22 years. It holds the graves of Emperor Shahjahan and his Queen Mumtaz Mahal. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the world. One of the most beautiful sights to behold from its southern gateway, it appears as a total composition which for its sheer harmony has few equals in the world. The Taj Mahal was in recent years being exposed to high levels of dust and sulphur dioxide which was resulting in the yellowing of its beautiful marble cladding. Many steps were taken to restrict the exposure to polluting elements and to restore the marble to its earlier glory. This film describes the Taj Mahal and many other monuments of Agra, India and includes the Fatehpur Sikri, Red Fort , Itmadudaula and the famous Dayal Bagh Temple which are all in themselves unique and beautiful places of interest in Agra. It also discusses the sources of pollution, the impact of pollution and the various measures taken. .
